How to Install a Ceramic
Tile Nameplate on Any Wall

February 2026 · 5 min read

Installing a ceramic nameplate takes 10 minutes and zero special skills. Use white tile adhesive on a clean, dry surface — press firmly, hold for 30 seconds, and let it cure for 24 hours. No drilling, no screws, no wall damage. Works on brick, concrete, plaster, stone, marble, and most outdoor surfaces.

What You'll Need

5 Steps to Perfect Installation

01

Choose Location & Clean the Surface

Pick your spot — typically centered next to the front door at eye height (about 150cm from ground). Clean the wall surface of dust, cobwebs, and loose paint. The surface should be dry and flat. Works on: brick, concrete, plastered wall, stone, marble, gate pillars.

02

Mark the Position

Hold the nameplate against the wall. Use painter's tape to mark the four corners. Step back 3–5 feet and check visually. Use a spirit level (or your phone's level app) to ensure it's straight. This step avoids crooked installations.

03

Apply Tile Adhesive

Apply a 3–4mm layer of white tile adhesive to the back of the nameplate (not the wall). Use a notched spreader or palette knife. Cover the entire back surface evenly. The adhesive should look like white toothpaste — not too thick, not too thin.

04

Press, Align & Hold

Press the nameplate firmly against the wall, aligning with your tape marks. Hold with gentle, even pressure for 30 seconds. Don't push too hard — the adhesive needs to stay between tile and wall, not squeeze out entirely. Wipe any excess adhesive from edges with a damp cloth.

05

Cure for 24 Hours

Leave the nameplate undisturbed for 24 hours. No touching, no water contact, no leaning things against it. After 24 hours, the adhesive is fully cured and the bond is permanent. Remove any painter's tape marks.

⚠️ Do NOT use: silicone sealant, wood glue, regular Fevicol, super glue, or double-sided tape. Only proper tile adhesive creates a lasting bond with kiln-fired ceramic.
